Gates are open Friday at 6 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM. Pow Wow dancing will be Friday 7-10 PM, Saturday 1-5 PM and 7-10 PM and Sunday 1-5 PM. There will also be Gourd Dancing at noon on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, the family of Vickie and Sam Tarrant, long-time Thunderbird members who passed away during the pandemic, will be sponsoring an honoring program which will include a giveaway and special Ladies’ and Men’s traditional dance contests.
Admissions must be purchased on-line and preferably in advance. To purchase admission, go to queensfarm.org, under Events select Thunderbird Powwow, then “Get Tickets” and purchase on the linked EventBrite page. There are some limits on the number of attendees allowed, and although this is quite high, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance.
Single-day: $15 for adults and $8 for children (2-12).
Weekend pass: $30 for adults and $16 for children (2-12).
Parking is free. Only a small number of seats are provided for the audience, so please bring your own seating if possible.
The Pow Wow grounds will be open rain or shine (except during severe thunderstorms or tornados); however, during rain, some dances may be held in a limited indoor space.
This spectacular 3-day event is NYC’s largest Powwow and one of the top ten in the USA. It features intertribal Native American dance competitions by over forty Indian Nations. The Grand Entry showcases the dancers’ full regalia and The Sunset Lighting of the Bonfire is an enchanting ceremony. Program features an expansive market of authentic Native American art, crafts, jewelry and food (don’t miss the fry bread!). An immersive cultural experience not to be missed!
