Waaaaah, I’m so sad, I heard about this in April and have been looking forward to it since I moved to Long Island in February and am always looking for new things. Well I completely thought it was in August and booked a flight home for a week on the friday that it starts. =( =( I am so sad about it, are there any other summer powwows after this one? Thanks!

Sorry to hear that… it’s really a nice Powwow… well, try again in 2013.
The next big one should be the 66th Annual Shinnecock Indian PowWow in Southampton: August 31st through Labor Day 2012

I share your pain Maria, there were times in the recent past when it was held in late August; I have missed the past two annual powwows; and here I am looking on the site hoping its held on Labor Day Weekend and coming away disappointed. I did download the pdf file for future events and have both bookmarked and pasted into my calendar all of the said future events.

I think last year there were beginning shawl dancing lessons for girls. Will you be doing that again? And is there somewhere nearby for camping? We want to stay all three days, but it’s a long drive, it would be better if we didn’t have to come back and forth every day.
