Thunderbird Dance Social at NMAI

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers in collaboration with the National Museum of the American Indian are holding a Dance Social on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 7 to 10 PM.  
This event is at the National Museum of the American Indian, One Bowling Green, in lower Manhattan.  Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no admission charge.

Louis Mofsie and the Heyna Second Sons singers lead this traditional indoor social dance and get-together.  Everyone is welcome to join in the Native American Dancing, or just to enjoy it as a spectator.  There will also be free door prizes and refreshments.

Thunderbird Annual Holiday Party & Indian Market 2016

IMG_20141220_203848132The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers are holding our Annual Holiday Party Saturday, December 10, 2016, at La MaMa (The Downstairs, basement level),

66 East 4th Street, in Manhattan (between Bowery and 2nd Avenue)

 6 PM until 10 PM

Everyone is welcome to attend.  Admission is free. 
This is a potluck dinner – so please bring a dish to share. (Cold dishes are better because this venue has limited cooking facilities.) 
In addition to the dinner, there will be music, dance, games and, of course, socializing.  
The party is taking place in conjunction with a 3-day Indian Market with vendors selling traditional and contemporary Indian works. For more information about the Indian Market, visit

Annual Thunderbird November Auction of Native American Items

 The Annual Thunderbird Auction, with moderator Louis Mofsie, will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016at The Carriage House,  225 East 67th Street,  in Manhattan (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues). The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers will be holding our annual November auction of Native American items.  Jewelry, leather goods, baskets, rattles, clothing, blankets and other beautiful items will be available.  
The Auction will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016at The Carriage House,  225 East 67th Street,  in Manhattan (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues).   Please note that this is a new location.  Auction items can be viewed from 6:00 to 7:00 PMwith the auction taking place from 7 PM until about 9 PM.
This is a great opportunity for early holiday gift shopping.  
All proceeds from this auction are used for the Thunderbird American Indian Scholarship Fund, which has awarded over 500 grants for the college education of Native Americans.
Payment for winning bids can be made by cash or check (with proper id).  We cannot accept credit/debit card payments.
All are welcome to attend.  Admission is free.

Native American Storytelling, Dance Workshops and Crafts Sale. Hands-on workshops and demonstrations of Native American Pow Wow Dance Styles and Storytelling shared by members of the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers.  One of few places in the east to learn American Indian Hoop Dance (hoops provided),hear American Indian Stories and purchase Native Crafts. Appropriate for adults and children 7 yrs and older.
