The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers Annual spring Dance and Music Workshop

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers are holding their annual spring Dance and Music Workshop on Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 7 to 10 PM.

at The Carriage House, 225 East 67th Street, Manhattan (between 2nd & 3rd Avenues).

The Workshop will include lessons in several Native American dances and songs and practice on musical instruments, for all who want to participate.   This is a unique educational opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn Native American music and dance. 

There will also be tables set up with American Indian jewelry and other handmade items, available for purchase at very reasonable prices.

All are welcome to attend.  Admission is free.

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers are presenting their 42nd annual concert of music, dance and storytelling at the Theater for the New City the last weekend of January and the first weekend of February.  
 
This is a unique educational and entertainment experience.  The Thunderbirds perform authentic dances of the Iroquois, Southwest and Great Plains Native American peoples. Each dance is introduced with a complete explanation of the dance and its cultural context and is accompanied by live music.  
 
Shows are on Fridays, January 27 and February 3, and Saturdays, January 28 and February 4 at 8 PM, with tickets prices of $10.  There are also special matinee performances for children on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM, January 28 and 29 and February 4 and 5, with tickets for children under 12 only one dollar (children must be accompanied by an adult paying the regular $10 price).

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers in collaboration with the National Museum of the American Indian are holding a Dance Social on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 7 to 10 PM.  
 
This event is at the National Museum of the American Indian, One Bowling Green, in lower Manhattan.  Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no admission charge.

 
Louis Mofsie and the Heyna Second Sons singers lead this traditional indoor social dance and get-together.  Everyone is welcome to join in the Native American Dancing, or just to enjoy it as a spectator.  There will also be free door prizes and refreshments.

Thunderbird Annual Holiday Party & Indian Market 2016

IMG_20141220_203848132The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers are holding our Annual Holiday Party Saturday, December 10, 2016, at La MaMa (The Downstairs, basement level),

66 East 4th Street, in Manhattan (between Bowery and 2nd Avenue)

 6 PM until 10 PM

Everyone is welcome to attend.  Admission is free. 
This is a potluck dinner – so please bring a dish to share. (Cold dishes are better because this venue has limited cooking facilities.) 
 
In addition to the dinner, there will be music, dance, games and, of course, socializing.

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers will be holding our annual November auction of Native American items.  Jewelry, leather goods, baskets, rattles, clothing, blankets and other beautiful items will be available.  
 
The Auction will be on Saturday, November 19, 2016at The Carriage House,  225 East 67th Street,  in Manhattan (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues).   Please note that this is a new location.  Auction items can be viewed from 6:00 to 7:00 PMwith the auction taking place from 7 PM until about 9 PM.
 
This is a great opportunity for early holiday gift shopping.  
 
All proceeds from this auction are used for the Thunderbird American Indian Scholarship Fund, which has awarded over 500 grants for the college education of Native Americans.
 
Payment for winning bids can be made by cash or check (with proper id).  We cannot accept credit/debit card payments.
 
All are welcome to attend.  Admission is free.
