The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers will be holding our annual auction of Native American items.  Jewelry, leather goods, baskets, rattles, clothing, blankets and other beautiful items will be available.

at the Riverside Church

490 Riverside Drive (or 91 Claremont Avenue), New Location: Assembly Hall

in Manhattan (off West 120th Street, 1 block west of Broadway).

Please note the change in location and time from previous years. Also, the date is a revision from one previously announced.

This is a great opportunity for early holiday gift shopping.  Items can often be bought at bargain prices, as opening bids are well below retail prices. All proceeds from this auction are used for the Thunderbird American Indian Scholarship Fund, which has awarded over 500 grants for the college education of Native Americans.All are welcome to attend.  Admission is free.  (Donations are appreciated, but no one is turned away).

Special Notice: On Saturday, July 30, 2022 at our 43rd Annual Grand Mid Summer Pow Wow,

The Family of Sam and Vickie Tarrant

are sponsoring a special honoring program for them at the Thunderbird Powwow. Vickie and Sam were long-time Thunderbird members who passed away during the pandemic.

A giveaway and Women’s and Men’s Traditional Special Dance contests each offer a total of $1300 in prize money.

This spectacular annual 3-day event is NYC’s largest Powwow and one of the top ten in the USA. It features intertribal Native American dance competitions by over forty Indian Nations. The Grand Entry showcases the dancers’ full regalia and The Sunset Lighting of the Bonfire is an enchanting ceremony. Program features an expansive market of authentic Native American art, crafts, jewelry and food (don’t miss the fry bread!). Singing by The Silver Cloud Singers, Heyna Second Sons, Smoke Dance, Native American Hoop Dance, Inter-Tribals and more. An immersive cultural experience not to be missed!

By Car: Grand Central Parkway to Exit 24 South (Little Neck Parkway) or Long Island Expressway (495) to Exit 32
South, to Farm Entrance Gate. Free Parking available at the Farm.
Subway/Bus: E or F Train to Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens station.

Transfer to Q46 bus eastbound to Little Neck
Parkway. Walk 3 blocks north to Farm Entrance Gate.
Long Island Railroad: To Floral Park or Little Neck Station, where car service is available.

All cars must be parked and stationary before spectator entry times! No exceptions.

​DANCER REGISTRATION
Dancer registration is Friday 5-7 PM & Saturday after 11 AM.  Contest dancers must register by Saturday 1 PM.  Although the majority of contest points are given Saturday and Sunday, participation points are awarded for Friday night dancing.  Contests will run rain or shine.  All dancers must pay at least a single day admission fee (covering the full weekend) before they enter the pow wow grounds, but there is no dancer registration fee. 

Admissions can only be bought on-line, preferably in advance: go to queensfarm.org/events.html, click on “POWWOW TICKETS”  and purchase by clicking on the linked EventBrite page.
Overnight Accommodation: Dancer RV’s must be moved into the parking lot overnight.
