Please join the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers for our 45th Annual Grand Mid-Summer Pow Wow Friday, July 26, through Sunday July 28, 2024, at the Queens County Farm Museum (73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Floral Park, NY). 

Gates are open Friday at 6 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM. Pow Wow dancing will be Friday 7-10 PM, Saturday 1-5 PM and 7-10 PM and Sunday 1-5 PM. Gourd Dancing at noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Admissions must be purchased on-line and preferably in advance.  To purchase admission,  go to queensfarm.org, under Events select Thunderbird Powwow, then “Get Tickets”  and purchase on the linked EventBrite page.  There are some limits on the number of attendees allowed, and although this is quite high, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance.

Annual Thunderbird American Indian Dancers Concert at Theater for the New City 2022

The Thunderbird American Indian Dancers are presenting their 48th annual concert of music, dance and storytelling at the Theater for the New City the weekends of January 13-15 and 20-22, 2023.    

This is a unique educational and entertainment experience.  The Thunderbirds perform authentic dances of the Iroquois, Southwest and Great Plains Native American peoples. Each dance is introduced with a complete explanation of the dance and its cultural context and is accompanied by live music.  

Shows are on Fridays, January 13 and 20, and Saturdays,  January 14 and 21 at 8 PM, with ticket prices of $15.

There are also special matinee performances for children on Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM, January 14, 15, 21 and 22, with tickets for children from 5 to12 years old only one dollar (children must be accompanied by an adult paying the regular $15 price.  Attendance is not recommended for children under 5.)

The Family of Sam and Vickie Tarrant

are sponsoring a special honoring program for them at the Thunderbird Powwow. Vickie and Sam were long-time Thunderbird members who passed away during the pandemic.

A giveaway and Women’s and Men’s Traditional Special Dance contests each offer a total of $1300 in prize money.

This spectacular annual 3-day event is NYC’s largest Powwow and one of the top ten in the USA. It features intertribal Native American dance competitions by over forty Indian Nations. The Grand Entry showcases the dancers’ full regalia and The Sunset Lighting of the Bonfire is an enchanting ceremony. Program features an expansive market of authentic Native American art, crafts, jewelry and food (don’t miss the fry bread!). Singing by The Silver Cloud Singers, Heyna Second Sons, Smoke Dance, Native American Hoop Dance, Inter-Tribals and more. An immersive cultural experience not to be missed!
